Isabella
New York, NY (Digital)
I’ve fanned the flame, so to speak, with a number of people I’ve photographed but never as actively as I’ve done with Isabella. After photographing her for the first time 4 years ago, I could not wrap my mind around how well she navigated the camera. She was aware of how her angles would be perceived and made minute adjustments to ensure I wouldn’t have to. See, photographing someone is a dance, if one partner is out of sync in any way the images will show it but when you’ve got two people that can mirror and compensate each step down to the inch, it works and it has always worked with her. As impressed as I have been with what she’s gone on to accomplish in front of cameras and the places it’s taken her, the effort she dedicates to everything else in her life is just as admirable. There’s depth to Isabella as there is with everyone, but having been able to see the layers over the course of time has made me a fan and I’ve assured her that I will aide in her successes in any meaningful way that I can.
